FAMOUS KAMMA ENGINEERS


1) Dr.Narla Tata Rao
Narla Tata Rao was born on 8-3-1917 in Koutharam, Krishna District. He obtained his MS (Poer Systems, Engineering) from Illinios Institute of Technology, Chicago-USA. He started his career as an employee of TATA Iron and Steel Company. In the Madhya Pradesh State Electricity Board, he served in various capacities- Divisional Engineer, Chief Engineer, Secretary to the Electricty Board and Co-Chairman. He also served as member of the Hydro-Electric Commission of Central Government. From 1974 onwards he served as the Chairman of Andhra Pradesh State Electricity board upto 1988. He was Chairman of of Super Thermal Stations Committee. He was Chairmsn of Energy Research wing of The Indian Scientific and Indistrial Research Enterprise. He was the Director of BHEL, Andhra Bank, Allwyn, Bharat Alluminium Company. He was the Chairman of Central Hydro Electrica Corporation. His brain childs are Srisailam and Nagarjuna Sagar Hydro Electric Stations Vijayawada Power Station. Government of India honoured him with "Padmashree" title in the year 1983. He is honorary Chairman for many Public Limited Companies.

2) Dr.Nuthakki Bhanu Prasad
Nuthakki Bhanu Prasad Born in Viyayawada on Feb 21.1928 Nuthakki Bhanu Prasad was associated with India’s first Nuclear reactors as well with Bombay High Oil and gas fields. He obtained his Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Madras University.His contributions were recognized with the award of Padmashri to him in 1959, when he was just 31. In December 1973, he was personally selected by Mrs. Indira Gandhi to direct the activities of the Oil and Natural Gas Commission. Dr. Prasad is presently on the Board of Governors of the Administrative Staff College of India and President, Institute of Public Enterprise. The Petrotech 2003 Lifetime Achievement award was presented to Padmashri Dr. Nuthakki Bhanu Prasad for his contribution to India’s Upstream Petroleum Industry.

3) Dr.Anumolu Rama Krishna
Dr. Anumolu Ramakrishna was the President (Operations) and Deputy Managing Director, Larsen & Toubro Ltd., Chennai. Dr. Anumolu Ramakrishna did his masters in structural engineering from the College of Engineering, Guindy, Chennai started his career in 1962 with Engineering Construction Corporation Limited (ECC). He headed the ECC - Construction Division and was inducted into the Board of Directors of L&T in 1992. He was elevated to the present position of Deputy Managing Director in March 2000. Under his leadership, revenues of L&T-ECC Division have grown manifold - from Rs. 4,500 Million in 1992 to over Rs. 600,000 Million in 2005. Dr. Ramakrishna was the Vice-Chairman of Construction Industry Development Council - CIDC - an autonomous institution established by Government of India - Planning Commission to bring together diverse players in construction sector to a common platform.
He was also the Vice-Chairman of National Academy of Construction - NAC, established by the Government of Andhra Pradesh, for providing training to Workmen, Contractors and Engineers.

4) Tripuraneni Hanuman Chaudary
He was born in Angaluru. He has a Bachelor's Degree in Telecommunications Engineering. He was in Indian Government's Department of Telecoms for over 30 years and held positions like Asst.Chief Engineer, General Manager and Dy.Director General. The last Telecom post he held was Chairman and Managing Director of India's International Telecom Corporation The VSNL. He was on Board of Governors of the INTELSAT. He was the President of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (India), represented India in several Internationa l Conferences in 30 Countries.
He is consultant to several National and Foreign companies on Telecoms in India and is on the Board of Directors in several companies. He Published over 400 articles, papers, talks, writes regularly for econoimics and business papers. He is currently Consultant and Advisor to TCS and Satyam Computers.

5) Uppalati Venkateswarlu
U.V.Varlu was born in December, 1927 in Ghantasala in a farmers family; passed DMIT Electronic Engineering from Madras Institute of Technology in 1954. with Honours. Joined Atomoc Energy Establishment, Trombay, (now Bhaba Atomic Research Center, BARC) in 1954 as a Research Assistant. 12 years at Trambay , he was engaged in the R&D and setting-up pilot plants for electronic equipment. 7 years ECI, Hyderabad, he has set up four production divisions namely Nuclear Instruments, Measuring Instruments, T.V and Components division. 10 years (1974-84) at Central Electronics Ltd., he has set-up production divisions for Ferrites, Technical ceramics, Electron tubes, Electronic equipment for Railways, Solar cells, Modules and systems all with indegenious know-how. 5 years at APEDC (1984-89) he has promoted about 100 industries in the area of electronics and communications.
Awarded Nayudamma Award by Indo-Japanese Friend ship Association in 1986. He was Chairman for many companies in the area of Electronics and Communication and Advisor for many companies. He was Chairman Working Group for Electronic Components set-up by DST New Delhi.

6) Dr.Vara Prasad Kodali
Dr. V. Prasad Kodali is a Consultant in Electronics. From 1986 to 1997, he served as Advisor in the Department of Electronics, Government of India, responsible for strategic electronic activities During 1984-86, he was the Director for Electronics and Instrumentation at DRDO, New Delhi, responsible for technical planning and coordination in communications, radar, electronics warfare and opto-electronics. From 1973 to 1984, he was Technical Director of the DoE, Government of India. Prior to 1973, Dr. Kodali worked with TIFR, Bombay, and with Microwave Associates in England. In early 1980s, he planned and founded the Center for Electromagnetics in Madras for R&D in electromagnetic compatibility. Mr. Prasad Kodali, Worldwide Technical Program Manager of Life Sciences Discovery Link Solution, IBM Corporation. Dr. Kodali is Informatics Project Lead at 3rd Millennium, where he is involved in developing advanced informatics solutions for pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. He was previously the product manager of data integration products at NetGenics, Inc. He received his Ph.D. degree in computational chemistry from Pennsylvania State University. His research interests include data integration in drug discovery, computational algorithms, computer-assisted drug design, and life science informatics.

7) Jayarama Prasad Chalasani
J. P. Chalasani has been Chief Executive officer (CEO) of Reliance Power Limited since March 7, 2008. Shri. Chalasani served as Director of Business Development of Reliance Infrastructure Ltd., (formerly Reliance Energy Ltd., BSES Limited) from January 18, 2003 to March 7, 2008. Shri. Chalasani has 27 years of experience in Power sector. He joined the Reliance group in 1995. He handled various assignments for Reliance ADA group. He held responsible positions with National Thermal ... Power Corporation Limited. He served as Chief Executive of BSES Rajdhani Power Limited and BSES Yamuna Power Limited. He serves as Director of Utility Powertech Limited, Hirma Power Limited, BSES Rajdhani Power Limited, Reliance Energy Trading Limited, Jayamkondam Power Limited, Matrix Innovation Limited, Coastal Andhra Power Limited and BSES Yamuna Power Limited. He served as Whole-Time Director of Reliance Infrastructure Ltd., from January 18, 2003 to March 7, 2008. He served as Director of Reliance Natural Resources Ltd., from August 9, 2005 to February 7, 2006. He is a Engineering graduate.

8) Dr Chunchu Ram Prasad
Dr.C R Prasad has over 40 years of experience in Indian Energy Sector with thorough exposure to various facets of the industry such as Exploration and Production of oil and natural gas, Engineering and Construction of large oil/gas production complexes located offshore, setting up of mega petrochemical complexes, petrochemical production etc. He worked as Director (Marketing & Planning), GAIL from October, 1994 and took over as Chairman & Managing Director of GAIL in September, 1996. Held additional charge of Chairman & Managing Director of Madras Refineries Ltd. (now known as Chennai Petroleum Corporation Ltd.) in 1999. He also acted as the Chairman of Mahanagar Gas Ltd., Mumbai, a joint venture of GAIL, British Gas and Government of Maharashtra formed for distribution of city gas in Mumbai. He also Chaired the Board of Indraprastha Gas Ltd., Delhi, a joint venture company of GAIL, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. and Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi formed for distribution of city gas and supply of Compressed Natural Gas to the transport sector in Delhi.

9) Panda MS Prasad
PMS Prasad has been Executive Director Director of Relience Industries. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and has been with the Company for 28 years. He has been recognized as one of the finest professionals in the energy industry. Presently, he heads the Petroleum upstream and refining business, which comprises exploration and production and refinery supply and trading. Over the years, he has held various positions in the fibres, petrochemicals and petroleum business of the Company. He was also the project head of the Jamnagar refinery and petrochemicals complex. He was recently awarded an Honorary Doctorate degree by the University of Petroleum Engineering Studies, Dehradun......................
